How you learn Serbian with Priče
No drilling rules: a language sticks when you hear it again and again in a story and answer in it yourself.
-
Listen to the story
Ivan has moved from Russia to Belgrade. His neighbor Milan, Teta Mira's bakery, the queue at the police office, the market, the derby — every story is something anyone who moves to Serbia runs into.
-
Answer out loud
Mini-stories ask simple questions and leave you a pause to answer. One word is already an answer, and mistakes don't matter — what matters is speaking.
-
A week with one story
Every day it's the same story from a new angle: the vocabulary, questions, a minute about Serbian culture, and from lesson 5 a retelling in another tense. On day seven you retell it yourself.

See who's speaking and understand every line
The story plays like a picture book: the scene, the line and who says it. The line's translation is one tap away — or hide the text and just listen.
- Line-by-line translation into English or Russian
- History lists everything you've heard: tap a line to hear it again
- Cyrillic or Latin script, whichever you prefer
Question, pause, your answer
After each question the app goes quiet and waits for you to answer out loud. The answer stays hidden until you've had a go yourself.
- The pause adapts: it gets shorter toward the end of the week
- Or the app waits until you tap ▶︎
- Speech speed from 0.75× to 1.3×
A question, a pause for your answer, then the right answer. 37 seconds.

Questions
What level do I need?
None — you can start from zero. The first stories are short sentences in the present tense, and each one after that is a little longer and harder.
Do I need to read Cyrillic?
No. Serbian has two alphabets, and the app can show the text in Latin script. You can also listen with no text at all.
Can I learn Serbian on my own?
Yes. The lessons are made for learning on your own: short stories, word explanations and a translation of every line. All you need is to listen every day and answer out loud.
How much time does it take a day?
About 15–25 minutes. The app puts together today's plan for you: what to listen to and in which order.
Why a whole week on one story?
Repetition is the method. You hear the same words many times, in different questions, and they stick by themselves, without drilling. Once you understand the story at first hearing, it's time for the next one.
Do I need an internet connection?
No, all the lessons are already in the app. You only need a connection to subscribe.
When is it out? Is there an Android version?
Soon: the app is being prepared for the App Store. For now it's iPhone only, iOS 18 or later.
Which languages are the hints in?
English and Russian: translations, the glossary and the interface come in the language you choose. The stories and questions are in Serbian.
